Give a Home

Give a Home was a global collaboration between Sofar Sounds and Amnesty International taking place on September 20, 2017. It brought together established and emerging artists with refugees and local communities to produce concert events in living rooms across the world as a global act of welcome to help support the world’s refugees.

Maimed & Tamed was hired to handle global production and project management for the entire series of 250+ events occurring in living rooms (and other unique spaces).

M&T oversaw a network of local Sofar Sounds city teams to produce 271 events in 173 cities and 44 countries all on one day. Pre-production for the event series began in December 2016 and over the following nine months M&T coordinated various elements of the project including artist booking, venue management, recruiting refugee performers and speakers, managing global production budget, and working with Sofar Sounds tech team to create a proprietary lottery ticket entry and donation platform for fans to attend shows globally. M&T also collaborated with Sofar and Amnesty communications directors, as well as the PR team contracted for the project, to develop the marketing strategy for the event series.

Major performers included Ed Sheeran, Alessia Cara, Hozier, The National, Rudimental, Grouplove, Local Natives, Moby, Nigel Godrich, Hot Chip, Jake Bugg, Emeli Sandé, Andrew Bird, Jack Garratt, Gorgon City, Billy Bragg, Ben Gibbard, Jessie Ware, BJ The Chicago Kid, Gregory Porter, and many many more.

M&T also oversaw the delivery of content (including performance videos and photos) from the events and produced after-parties in select cities.

The project resulted in 19,470 guests attending shows globally, $180,000+ raised for Amnesty’s refugee relief efforts, and generated 3.3 billion in total media reach including press features in Billboard, BBC News, NME, Pitchfork, Variety, and Music Week among many others.
