Southbound 5

In 2015 General Snus collaborated with Poor Boyz Productions and Ming Utility and Entertainment to create Southbound 5: Five Strangers, Five Hearts, a short film featuring amateur skiers on some of the most difficult terrain in Chile. The skiers were all winners of a competition held by Poor Boyz to find and feature some of the best amateur talent in the world on a professional video shoot. Along with action footage of the skiers, the film also features the athletes’ stories with a focus on their unwavering passion for skiing.

When Maimed & Tamed was hired on the project the edits of the film included both original and pre-recorded music. M&T was tasked with clearing all pre-recorded tracks for use in the film.

Maimed & Tamed negotiated licensing fees with the artists’ publishing representatives and labels for all pre-recorded tracks featured in the film. M&T also executed the master use and synch agreements for each track and coordinated all invoicing and payment, allowing for a hassle free placement process for the film’s producers. Artists whose songs were featured in the film include Willis Earl Beal, The Black Angels, Deap Vally, and Milagres. The project was released in a series of 4-6 minute edits and can be viewed via the General Snus wesbite.
